Executive Summary

Kikulu Foundation Ltd. successfully implemented the first phase of its ICT Capacity Building Programme for Primary School Headteachers across Luweero District. The initiative equips school leaders with practical digital skills that improve school administration, financial management, communication, record keeping, teaching and learning using smartphones and affordable technologies. Despite infrastructure challenges, participant response was overwhelmingly positive, demonstrating strong demand for practical ICT skills and continuous professional development.

Regional Workshops

12 June 2026

Luweero Boys Primary School

Attendance: 14 of 20 Headteachers (70%)

Participants appreciated the practical smartphone-based approach to ICT and committed to returning with additional teachers. Due to overwhelming demand, future training at this centre will expand to approximately 40 participants.

17 June 2026

Zirobwe C/U Primary School

Attendance: 11 of 20 Headteachers (55%)

Participants emphasized the importance of ongoing mentoring and follow-up training to ensure sustainable digital transformation within their schools.

19 June 2026

Wobulenzi Public Primary School

Attendance: 12 of 20 Headteachers (60%)

Training focused on practical smartphone applications including school administration, financial management, academic records, communication, teaching support and access to educational resources.

24 June 2026

Namaliga Primary School

Attendance: 13 of 20 Headteachers (65%)

Participants requested additional decentralized training centres and pledged to bring fellow Headteachers and ICT focal teachers to future workshops.

The success of these pilot workshops demonstrates that relatively modest investments can transform digital leadership in Uganda’s primary schools. With additional support, Kikulu Foundation will expand training centres, procure ICT equipment, strengthen mentoring programmes and reach thousands more educators across underserved communities.
